LOGISTICS)

SUBJECT: David Packard Excellence Award Nominations – ACTION MEMORANDUM

I am proud to nominate the following CY 00 Department of the Navy candidates for the David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award:

  1. DRPM TRIDENT Open System Architecture Team
  2. MARCORPS – Light Armored Vehicles (PM-LAV)
  3. NAVSEA – “1-877-4CADPAD” Reengineering Team
  4. NAVSEA/PEO(SUB) – Acoustic-Rapid COTS Insertion (A-RCI) and Advanced Processing Build (APB) Team
  5. NAVSUP/NAVICP – Reverse Auction Team

The award nominee packages at attachments 1-5 were prepared in accordance with the guidelines established by the November 1997 reissue of USD(A&T) policy memorandum, “Recognizing and Rewarding Acquisition Personnel”

These teams have made highly significant contributions to the larger Navy-Marine Corps Team, demonstrating exemplary innovation and best acquisition practices.  They are valuable assets to our acquisition community and serve as examples for all.  I strongly recommend each of these teams for your consideration, and concurrently request that the Defense Acquisition Executive Certificate of Achievement be awarded o each of the nominees that are not selected to receive the David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award.
