INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS SUPPORT
Since our founding, SASI has worked in the New Independent States (NIS)
to
promote U.S. Government goals
and has developed a reputation for
innovative
solutions delivered on-time and within budget. SASI has world-class
expertise in defense conversion and demilitarization, acquisition and
logistics, program management support, research and analysis, and
economic
promotion and development. We have a broad understanding of how to
conduct
business in the military and commercial sectors of the NIS economy. We
have
supported programs with the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD),
Department of
State (DOS), Department of Energy (DOE), and the Department of Commerce
(DOC).
SASI has extensive experience working with NIS military, laboratory,
and
commercial enterprises. We know how to establish the necessary
business
relationships to be successful in NIS countries, including how to bring
together former and current NIS industrial and military personnel to
accomplish defense conversion and other economic goals. Because we
have
personnel located in country that are U.S., Ukrainian, and Russian
citizens,
we are able to facilitate communication and relationships through
cultural
differences.
Under contract with the Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) Program (or
"Nunn Lugar"), SASI works to promote threat reduction and defense
conversion. For example, SASI developed a business plan for converting
Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) materials and facilities to
commercial uses in Ukrainian factories in Pavlovgrad and
Dnipropetrovsk.
Under the DoE Initiative for Proliferation Prevention, SASI validated
techniques for neutron irradiation of GaAs semi-conductors at a former
Russian nuclear research institute. SASI developed and executed a
model for
conducting market analysis for U.S. companies for the U.S. Embassy in
Moscow.
For the U.S. Department of Commerce, SASI conducted a program review to
assess the effectiveness of the Special American Business Internship
Training Program (SABIT), a local education program that promotes
commercial
development. SABIT trains managers and scientists from NIS in American
methods of innovation and management
in such areas as strategic
planning,
financing, production, distribution, marketing, accounting,
wholesaling, and
labor relations.
As a charter member of the U.S. Industry Coalition (USIC), SASI worked
with
the DOE and various
National Laboratories under the Initiative for
Proliferation Prevention (IPP), which employs former NIS scientists in
non-weapons related work. We are an Industry Collaborator with the
International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) and the Science and
Technology Center Ukraine (STCU), which promote a broad range of
technology
research in such areas as biotechnology, chemistry, manufacturing,
instrumentation and environment.
SASI also is
well versed in U.S., Ukrainian and Russian local
requirements
for import and export control, and have extensive experience in
obtaining
permits and licenses to comply with these requirements in support of
U.S.
Government programs.
